How to Maintain Your Car’s Shine Between Detailing Appointments

Keeping your car looking shiny and new doesn’t have to be a daunting task. With the right techniques and a little regular care, you can maintain that just-detailed look between your appointments with Eagle Shine Mobile Detailing. Here’s how to keep your car in pristine condition, ensuring it always reflects your pride in ownership.

1. Wash Your Car Regularly

Frequency: Aim to wash your car every week to prevent dirt and grime from building up.

Method: Use a high-quality, ph-balanced car shampoo and a microfiber wash mitt. Start from the top and work your way down to avoid spreading dirt. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Tips:

  • Avoid washing your car in direct sunlight to prevent water spots.

  • Use a two-bucket method: one for soapy water and one for rinsing your mitt.

2. Dry Your Car Properly

Why: Air drying can leave water spots and streaks on your car’s surface.

Tools: Use a clean, soft microfiber towel or a chamois cloth.

3. Protect with Wax or Sealant

Frequency: Apply spray wax or sealant every month.

Benefits: Wax provides a protective layer that helps repel water and dirt, making future washes easier and enhancing your car’s shine.

Product We Recommend: Our favorite wax to use is 303’s Nano Graphene Spray Coating. Shake well before use. Spray onto a microfiber or foam applicator and apply to the surface in a crisscross pattern for full coverage. After application allow product to cure for 5-10 minutes. Then, buff off with a clean microfiber towel

Another Product We Recommend: Our favorite quick detailer to use is Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Wax. To use, just spray on, rinse off And dry! It's that easy!

Clean the Wheels and Tires

Frequency: Clean wheels and tires every two weeks, or more often if they get dirty quickly.

Products: Use a dedicated wheel cleaner such as P&S Professional Brake Buster and a tire brush.

Method: Spray the cleaner on the wheels and let it sit for a minute without drying. Scrub with the brush and rinse thoroughly. Apply a tire dressing like Black Magic’s Tire Wet by spraying it on a detailing brush and brushing it on your wheels for a polished look.

6. Maintain the Interior

Vacuuming: Vacuum the interior weekly to prevent dirt and debris from accumulating.

Wiping Surfaces: Use a damp microfiber cloth to wipe down the dashboard, console, and other surfaces. Avoid using household cleaners that can damage the car’s materials. Our favorite cleaner for light cleaning is P&S Professional Xpress Interior Cleaner and for heavy duty interior cleaning we use Suds Lab All Purpose Interior Cleaning (diluted to necessary strength). For a nice conditioned look in your interior avoid cheap products like Armor All. For plastics we use Suds Lab Interior Detailer and for leather we use P&S Professional Leather Treatment.

Glass Cleaning: Clean the windows inside and out with a dedicated glass cleaner to ensure clear visibility. Use one clean towel for wiping off the glass cleaner and another clean towel for buffing out streaks. Be careful of washing your microfiber towels with heavy detergents as it can leave streaks on your windows.

7. Keep Your Car Covered

Garage: If possible, park your car in a garage to protect it from the elements.

Car Cover: If you don’t have a garage, consider using a car cover to shield your vehicle from sun, rain, and debris.

8. Address Spills and Stains Immediately

Why: Quickly addressing spills and stains prevents them from setting and becoming harder to remove.

Method: Blot (don’t rub) spills with a clean cloth. Use a gentle interior cleaner if needed.

9. Avoid Harsh Conditions

Sun: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can fade your car’s paint. Park in the shade whenever possible.

Bird Droppings: Bird droppings can damage paint if left untreated. Remove them promptly using a gentle cleaner and a soft cloth.

Sprinkler Water: The harsh deposits in sprinkler water can quickly damage your cars finish and leave water spots

10. Regular Maintenance Checks

Inspect: Regularly check your car for minor issues like chips or scratches and address them promptly.

Touch-Up Paint: Keep a touch-up paint kit handy for quick fixes to maintain your car’s pristine appearance.
